Company History ZORN GmbH & Co. KG

1951

Company founded by Mr. Zorn Senior in Berlin with roughly 10 employees. Production of light bulbs and optical pointers. The pointer lamp was produced as the company’s first light bulb, which was used for presentations with slide projectors and overhead projectors.

1961

Company relocated from Berlin to a new building at Robert Koch Str. 6 in Stockach, Germany. Production is launched with a foreman from Berlin and three other employees. 80 persons are employed in Berlin at this time.

1971

Heine Optotechnik bought ZORN on the 1st of October, 1971.

1987

After space became scarce at its previous location, the company was relocated again to a newly constructed building at Höllstraße 11. As of this point in time, production is run on 3000 square metres of floor space.
A new business division is launched: ZORN develops and fabricates special machines.

2001

Company anniversary:

  • 50 years of ZORN
  • 40 years of ZORN in Stockach
  • 30 years of ZORN as a subsidiary of Heine Optotechnik

2009

ZORN expands its light sources division to include products with LED technology.

2011

Company anniversary:

  • 60 years of ZORN
  • 50 years of ZORN in Stockach
  • 40 years of ZORN as a subsidiary of Heine Optotechnik

2013

As of July 2013, the company’s machine manufacturing division does business under the name ZORN Maschinenbau GmbH and belongs to the inpotron Schaltnetzteile GmbH group in Hilzingen.

2018

Introduction of sterilisable LED technology for dentistry.
